The very essence of Lea Hill is its tranquillity. The property's
prominent hilltop location commands stunning views over a hidden
valley of woodland and meadows.
Lea Hill lies within eight acres of secluded grounds which combine
relaxation with recreation. The Hot Tub, surrounding countryside walks
and peaceful setting allow guests the opportunity to escape the pace
of everyday life.
The main building is a prime example of a thatched Devon Long House,
with parts dating from the 14th Century when it was a medieval
farmhouse.
Close by are an ancient Quaker burial ground and a Meeting House,
given by Lea Hill's Quaker owners during the 17th and 18th Centuries.
Green issues are important for everyone these days. If you want to be
'greener', choosing a holiday cottage in your own country is a hugely
positive step. We aim to minimise any negative environmental impact
from our business and hope to make it easier for you to have a greener
holiday. Once you arrive here, you can engage in really local
activities (you will find plenty of information in our on site 'green'
file). Take scenic train journeys through glorious Devon countryside,
buy local food, drink our
spring water, recycle, even use eco products to do your laundry! We
participate in the Green
Tourism Business (grading pending). See our Green policy.
See what our guests say for themselves ( Visitors' books
2006/7):
"You have thought of everything. A wonderful place to stay."
"It was like heaven on earth."
Local food and produce
There are many local
producers and farm shops such as Royal Oak Farm. The Victoria
Catering Company can cook and serve meals in your own cottage.
Dogs
Lea Hill is a great place for dogs and we hope your pet enjoys his
holiday! There are many lovely walks and dogs can usually be
exercised off the lead in one or two of our fields. Please see the
full tenants' notes and site plan.
